Syria revolution: refugees

Last week, while in Lebanon, I got the chance to interview a few Syrian refugees that fled their country in fear of persecution over their participation in demonstrations against the Bashir Assad's regime.

Many of the men I spoke with told some disturbing episodes of physical and metal torture while in custody of the Mukhabarat (Syrian secret police), in the military prison of Homs.

Below a photograph of Sohaib Akkari, a refugee from the town of Tal Khalak, standing at the entrance of an improvised room at a temporary refugee center in Wadi Khaled, northern Lebanon.
